Our art curriculum is designed to nurture pupils’ creativity, imagination and visual literacy, enabling them to develop confidence in expressing themselves and understanding the world around them. Through carefully planned lessons, we encourage children to think and work like artists and designers—exploring ideas, taking inspiration from a range of sources, and reflecting on their own and others’ work.
We follow the Kapow scheme of work, which provides a clear and progressive structure while allowing opportunities for creativity and personal expression. Pupils are given the chance to experiment with a wide variety of materials, techniques and processes, developing their skills across drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media.
At the heart of our curriculum is the belief that art is a powerful form of communication. We encourage pupils to express ideas, emotions and meaning through their work, fostering independence, curiosity and a willingness to take creative risks. Through this approach, children build not only artistic skills but also resilience, critical thinking and a lifelong appreciation of the arts.
